Human Research Protection program

Virginia Tech’s Human Research Protections program, housed in the Division of Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance, is designed to support researchers in meeting their ethical and regulatory responsibilities to human research participants.

The program has oversight of human subjects research, supports, and oversees the Institutional Review Board. Virginia Tech has a Federalwide Assurance, which reflects the commitment to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and complies with the requirements of the regulations for the protection of human subjects in research ( 45 CFR part 46, also known as the Common Rule).
