About the Privacy and Research Data Protection Program
Working alongside the Virginia Tech’s IRB to protect participants - the Privacy and Research Data Protection Program (PRDP) ensures that Virginia Tech’s researchers have access to the resources they need to keep data secure and compliant with university, state, and federal regulations.

PRDP coordinates with campus stakeholders to develop and manage a process to support Virginia Tech investigators in addressing and meeting the data protection requirements of research activities.
The regulatory environment is changing and universities must be agile in their responses to those changes. PRDP will offer services providing access to researchers in formulating data plans, security measures, privacy protection, and standard operating procedures to help researchers stay abreast of these changes.
