Compliance Tools

The following tools are available to assist researchers in maintaining compliance throughout their research at Virginia Tech.

Disclosure and Management  

Designed to support disclosure submissions across the university in accordance with multiple policies, specifically allowing:

  1. Faculty to request and receive approval for participation in outside activities
  2. Investigators on sponsored research projects to disclose financial interests, agree to management plans for financial conflicts of interest, and view active management plans for ongoing compliance
  3. Employees to disclose when they have a financial interest in a business that is a party to a sponsored project or procurement contract/transaction 

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) /Conflict of Interest (COI) Training Tracker

Designed to support the RCR/COI training process by sending training notifications and managing training requirements for sponsored research projects. 

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Protocol Management

Allows researchers (both Virginia Tech and non-Virginia Tech) to submit IRB (human subject) applications online, track the progress of submitted applications, and save IRB protocol-related documents online.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Protocol Management

Allows researchers (both Virginia Tech and non-Virginia Tech) to submit IACUC (animal use) applications online, track the progress of submitted applications, and save IACUC protocol-related documents online.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Protocol Management

Allows researchers (both Virginia Tech and non-Virginia Tech) to submit IBC (nucleic acid and biohazardous agents use) applications online, track the progress of submitted applications, and save IBC protocol-related documents online.

 

Technology Control Plan Review and Annual Compliance Certification

Designed to automate the annual compliance certification process for primary investigators and department heads, as well as provide up-to-date information for project personnel and department heads to review.
