Pre-Award

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) pre-award team provides valuable services to Virginia Tech faculty interested in pursuing extramural funding. Pre-award assistance is designed to help facilitate the overall process as well as help principal investigators (PIs) submit high-quality, competitive proposals while balancing the need for institutional and sponsor regulatory compliance.

Pre-award responsibilities and services include the following:

• Review of the Request for Proposal (RFP).
• Creation the budget in accordance with PI, sponsor, and university specifications.
• Advise PI and department staff in completing sponsor forms.
• Ensure appropriate reviews have taken place.
• Prepare cover letters.
• Obtain all required Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) signatures.
• Review proposal for compliance with RFP.
• Submit proposal to sponsor.
