Restricted Party Screening

The Office of Export and Secure Research Compliance (OESRC) assists numerous departments at Virginia Tech with assessing export control, sanctions and research security requirements by utilizing a screening protocol for restricted parties.

Virginia Tech uses the Descartes Visual Compliance Restricted Party Screening (RPS) platform as a screening solution to comply with international trade, export and financial compliance requirements of the U.S. Government. The RPS tool is a trusted, efficient, affordable and modular platform that helps organizations remain compliant with the ever-changing regulatory landscape and offers supplementary options if requirements change. The current subscription at Virginia Tech screens against 75+ lists.

Screening occurs in many areas of transactional reviews at Virginia Tech and is utilized by OESRC, Procurement, Office of Sponsored Programs, and various other departments that have requested RPS tool access in the past to conduct due diligence screening for international transactions.
