Responsibilities

Katherine (Katie) B. Brooks joined the Human Research Protection Program as a protocol coordinator in October 2025.

Background

Brooks most recently served as an Institutional Review Board (IRB) specialist in the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Vaccine Research Center’s Clinical Trials Program and previously as senior IRB specialist at George Mason University. She brings more than a decade of experience in clinical research, IRB operations, and compliance in academic and medical settings.

Education

Brooks is a certified IRB professional and holds a Master of Arts in bioethics from Case Western Reserve University, a Master of Arts in secondary science education, and dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and philosophy from the University of Maryland, College Park.
