Responsibilities

Barbara DeCausey joined the Human Research Protection Program in August 2019. She came to Virginia Tech from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

Background

Barbara has more than 10 years of experience working in human subjects research.  For 5 years, she served as the Director of the Human Research Protections Office, and most recently as the Deputy Chief for the Clinical Research Branch, which manages the international Tuberculosis Trials Consortium.

Education

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and  master’s degrees in both public health and business administration from Walden University.
