Research Faculty Ranks

Research faculty are designated to promote and expedite university research activities. Research faculty are typically employed on sponsored grants and contracts and are on a restricted appointment to carry out research or outreach projects.

The duties of research faculty may have a small or no instructional component. Some research faculty may hold full- or part-time positions in academic departments, schools, or colleges. As valuable contributors to institutional missions, research faculty members are entitled to fair treatment and compensation, access to professional development opportunities, recognition for their accomplishments, and participation in the life of the university community.

Postdoctoral associate positions are administered and supported by the Office of Research and Innovation.

Below you will find more information regarding each rank of research faculty.
