Sponsored Award Closeouts: Compliance, Deadlines, and Responsibilities

Is your sponsored project ending soon? What happens next? What steps do you need to take now to properly close out your project with the sponsor?

In this Q&A session with the Office of Sponsored Programs, leaders from the Post-Award and Financial Compliance and Integrity teams will provide guidance on how to navigate and complete the final stage in the life cycle of a sponsored award. Attendees will learn about the key components of the closeout process and the responsibilities of the principal investigator and co-investigators, the department business office manager and fiscal staff, and the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Presenters will share strategies for staying in compliance with the sponsor’s requirements and deadlines for posting the remaining allocable costs to the grant funds, closing out any subawards to other organizations, and submitting the final technical and financial reports to the sponsor. Additionally, participants will learn about the potential consequences of non-compliance with the sponsor’s deadlines and other requirements, as well as how to prevent these consequences.

Presenters will include time for attendees to discuss questions about the closeout process.
