Responsibilities

Dave Schabdach serves as associate vice president for research and innovation, leading the Animal Resources and Care Division, and is the attending veterinarian for Virginia Tech. He holds a faculty appointment in the department of biomedical sciences and pathobiology in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

Background

Schabdach worked as a small animal practitioner prior to holding veterinary leadership positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Wyeth/Pfizer, Temple University, and most recently the University of Pittsburgh where he served as senior executive director of the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources and Attending Veterinarian.

He is a diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine and serves on the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International’s Council on Accreditation.

Education

Schabdach obtained his doctor of veterinary medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, a master of science in Laboratory Animal Medicine from the Pennsylvania State University, and a bachelor of science and arts in biology from the University of Georgia.
