Robin Queen served for 11 years as the director of the Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Laboratory at Duke University before coming to Virginia Tech to helm the Kevin P. Granata Biomechanics Laboratory as an associate professor in biomedical engineering and mechanics where she has been since 2015.
She has an interest in whole body mechanics with an emphasis on loading symmetry and functional outcomes following surgical interventions, and has published more than 100 peer reviewed manuscripts as an independent investigator.
In 2014, Dr. Queen was selected as a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Queen was awarded the Kappa Delta Young Investigator Award (2017) for her work in Ankle osteoarthritis and total ankle replacement. Dr. Queen is active in 5 professional societies (AAOS, ORS, ACSM, ASB, BMES) where she is a member of at least one committee or a member of the executive board.
In addition to her research, Dr. Queen is passionate about the advancement of women in leadership, with a specific focus on women in STEM and serves at both Virginia Tech and at national organizations as a leader in inclusion and diversity initiatives.
