The majority of sponsored expenditures are dedicated to personnel costs. Administering these "soft-funded" personnel requires additional diligence on behalf of the research administrator. This course will focus on identifying the extra steps required when placing personnel on sponsored projects. Specifically, the topics of fringe benefits, cost transfers, non-sufficient funds, and certification of personnel activity reports will be covered. This workshop will not cover how to establish individuals in the payroll system on a research project or how to calculate costs for a budget.
