This course will provide an overview of the commercialization process for VT inventions. Starting with a short introduction to intellectual property (IP), the course will cover the process of protecting IP and using it to transform research into benefits for humanity. The focus will be on the role of VT faculty in this process and will include ways to enhance grant proposals, protecting IP while freely disseminating research, the invention disclosure process, and working with patent attorneys.
