Uniform Guidance Updates: New Federal Regulations and Their Impact on University Research

The Uniform Guidance, 2 CFR Part 200, is the most important set of regulations for federal awards. The Uniform Guidance provides comprehensive rules governing the administration of federal grants and agreements, specifically in the areas of administrative requirements, cost principles, and audit requirements.

The Uniform Guidance has undergone its most significant revision since its inception in 2014, with changes aimed at reducing administrative burden and providing clarity. The updates take effect on October 1, 2024, and the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is committed to educating the research community on the updates and their responsibilities under federal regulations.

Join OSP's Director of Pre-Award, Lauren Magruder, as she explains key updates to the Uniform Guidance and how those changes will impact federal awards and management at Virginia Tech.
