Holiday closings impact proposal submission deadlines

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) would like to make you aware of the impact of the coming holiday season on proposal submissions.


VT will be closed from noon on 11/21 (Wednesday)  through 11/23 (Friday).  Please have all proposals due during this time to OSP and ready to submit by 9:00 am on 11/20 (Tuesday).

Upcoming SBIR/STTR training sessions announced

The Center for Innovative Technology’s Federal Funding Assistance program announces upcoming training sessions relating to Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR).

Save the date: VTCoRA Fall 2017 meeting October 19

The Virginia Tech Community of Research Administrators (VTCoRA) Fall 2017 meeting is set for Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the conference center of the Biocomplexity Institute of Virginia Tech, located at 1015 Life Science Circle.

Research administrators, take note: Summit system will be offline Thursday evening, 08/17/17

Summit, Virginia Tech’s research administration system, will be down for maintenance on Thursday, August 17, 2017 between 5 and 8 p.m.

Office of Research and Innovation recognizes employees for completing certificate programs

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation honored more than 40 employees for their accomplishments in completing professional development certificate programs.

In a ceremony held July 19, 2017 at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, employees received certificates in three programs:

New cost transfer guidelines effective July 1, 2017

Effective July 1, 2017, the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) has put into effect the cost transfer guidelines encompassed in the attached memo (below). OSP will be implementing more stringent procedures for processing and approving cost transfers.

Call for research in nanomanufacturing materials and processes – deadline July 18

Global Research Collaboration (GRC), a program of the Semiconductor Research Corporation, is soliciting white papers in the thrust area of nanomanufacturing materials and processes. A successful white paper will result in an invitation to submit a full proposal.

NSF announces new mailing address as of October 2, 2017

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is moving its headquarters to Alexandria, Virginia. NSF will have a new mailing address effective Monday, October 2, 2017, as follows:

Alexandria, VA 22314

Email addresses and phone numbers for NSF employees and NSF offices will not change. NSF plans to minimize the move’s impact on the research community as much as possible.
