The Federal Budget Process and Unique Opportunities for University Researchers

Chris Yianilos serves as Virginia Tech's Vice President for Government and Community Relations where he oversees state and federal government relations and local government and community relations activities in the greater Washington, DC area.

In this talk, being broadcast from Arlington, VA, in conjunction with a visit of Presidential Postdoctoral Fellows and Research and Innovation Postdoctoral Scholars, Chris will give an overview of Virginia Tech's office of Government and Community Relations, describe the work this office does, and explain how the office works in close partnership with university faculty and researchers. 

He will then provide an overview of the federal budget process and timelines and discuss unique funding opportunities that are available to university faculty that are engaged in research.
