This database searches by entire word or word combinations in an attempt to return quality data to you. For example searching for polymer looks for occurrances of this word. A search for adhesive polymer looks for these words in the order you've typed them. So, a search for polymer adhesive will not return the same results as adhesive polymer.

When you enter a topic, the database is searched for a match in several fields. This allows the user to be very specific.

Example: if you search for Mycobacterium avium you may find it if a researcher has mentioned this specific bacteria in the description of his research or in a publication title. However, if a specific search is unsuccessful, try a more general word, such as infection, immunity, bacteria, or disease.

A search will be most successful by starting with a general search and, if a great many records are returned, moving to a more specific search.
