Due to current economic uncertainty, some Virginia Tech employers are identifying the need to deliver early termination notices to special research faculty. Early termination notices are notices of termination prior to the ending date of the special research faculty member’s current contract. At this time, most early terminations are related to insufficient funds to continue the position.
Please note that the date of termination for a “restricted” faculty member will be at least 30 calendar days from the date of notification given in writing. For special research faculty in “regular” positions the following notices apply:
A proposed written notice of termination must be approved by the department head, dean or appropriate administrator, and the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR). Please direct any questions to the OVPR human resources office at 1-9359.
